Description:    The act of "naming" is paradoxical, at once expanding and limiting.  Expanding in the sense that ideas, having been given definition and life, can then be grasped and built upon.  Yet "naming" can be limiting if the definition becomes calcified and is taken as describing the totality of experience.  At best, we each have a working map of reality, our own personal narrative, which never fully describes reality itself, but is open to constant revision.  In a sense my work is a non-verbal "naming" an ongoing effort to articulate the intensity and complexity of experience.
